Elva was born on August 25, 1917, in Tabor, Iowa to John and Erma Dayhoff. Her family relocated to Abilene, Kansas where she spent her childhood. In 1937 she moved to Colorado Springs, where she met Roy Murr and they were married on October 9, 1938. They remained married until his death on October 16, 1988.
She was an avid sports fan and extremely loyal to her Colorado teams. She enjoyed the hours spent tending to her vegetable garden and was known throughout the neighborhood for her many beautiful rose bushes. She was also known for her love of jigsaw puzzles, especially prints of the artist Thomas Kinkade.
Elva is survived by her son Robert L. (Pat) Murr; a daughter Patricia J. Francis; sister Pauline Jones; five grandchildren, Julia Francis Whelan, Lori Velie, Craig Francis, Cindy Rayfield and Wendy Murr; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Nelson and her husband Roy.
A Memorial Service with reception to follow is planned for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016, Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, Colorado.
