Edward graduated from Estherville High School in Estherville, Iowa. He earned a B.S. in Technical Management from Regis University in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Edward retired from the United States Air Force with 28 years of service. He was stationed throughout the world including Vietnam, Japan, Philippines, Norway, and many locations stateside. During his military career, Ed received many awards and medals including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, Joint Service Commendation, and Air Force Commendation. Edward served as a Quality Engineer for Digital Equipment Corporation until retiring in December 1989.
Edward was preceded in death by his son, Edward, Jr; his sister, Mariene Fransdal; and his parents, Lyle and Mildred Sather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; his daughter, Debbie House; and granddaughters, Casey and Kelly House; and his sister, Carole Alexander.
Family and friends were extremely important in his life. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, visiting their friends and family, and attending Colorado Rockies spring training. He liked bowling, skiing, rooting for the Denver Broncos, and visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Edward and Mary have been members of the USAFA Community Center Chapel for many years.
The viewing and service will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Home starting at 5pm on Thursday 20 July 2017. Internment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edward’s name to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
