In 1972, Duane and his family settled in Woodland Park where he and wife Myrna formed Carter Realty in 1974. Duane sold and developed land, homes, and other properties throughout Teller and El Paso Counties and had additional offices in Old Colorado City and Rockrimmon. Duane and Myrna sold Carter Realty in 2002 but continued to work in real estate until 2021.
