11, 2019 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Astoria, Oregon, July 8, 1957, the
oldest of five siblings. Her late father, Clarence David Slemons, was a career Navy
man who had assignments in Hawaii and San Diego, California before eventually
moving the family back to his hometown of Johnson City, Tennessee in the late
1960s. It was here where Debbie would meet many of her lifelong friends.
Debbie graduated from Daniel Boone High School in 1975. After high school she
attended East Tennessee State University (ETSU) with the goal of becoming a
teacher like many of her high school girlfriends. Debbie left ETSU after a couple
years and pursued various other job opportunities in the area, such as working at a
hospital and a telecommunications company. She eventually landed a secretary
position with the U.S. Air Force in the late 1980s while finishing her bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration. Shortly thereafter, her hard work paid off and
she was offered a promotion and permanent position in the Civilian Personnel
career field where she would spend the remainder of her 33 years. From her
humble civil service beginnings, Debbie would ultimately rise to become a member
of the Senior Executive Services of the U.S. Air Force. Debbie and her husband, Tim,
moved to Colorado Springs, CO in March of 2019 with the goal of finally settling
down after numerous moves with the U.S. Air Force.
Debbie was a vibrant, caring, selfless person who had a big heart for serving others.
This was evident in so many ways, from mentoring numerous work colleagues along
her distinguished career to serving the elderly in various capacities. Debbie lived
out her Christian faith; she loved people and it showed. She thoroughly enjoyed
cooking and was the consummate host; nobody ever visited the Warner’s and left
hungry.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Tim Warner, her cousin
Judith Slemons of Johnson City, Tennessee; and her other four siblings; David
Slemons of Johnson City, Tennessee; Dale Slemons of Marietta, Georgia; Diana
O’Neal of Mesa, Arizona; and Danny Slemons of Chula Vista, California.
A graveside service will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
