Donald Richard (Dick) Douglas, born at home on September 12,1927 in Crete, Nebraska to Donald Quincy and Dorothy Marcella (Dawson) Douglas. Dick married Ruth V. Dunlap on November 7, 1953 at the Open Bible Church in Pasadena, California. To this union of 61 years, was born Larry (Kathy) Douglas of Colorado Springs, Marlene (David) Naftz of Helena, Montana.
Survivors include five Grandchildren: Christopher (Molly) Douglas, Douglas (Caitlin) Naftz, Ashley (Jared) Drake, Jonathan (Kristen) Douglas, and Kara Naftz, three Great Grandchildren; Elijah, Eden, Adalee, Sisters: Barbara Thompson of Oceanside, CA, Mary Ann Swinehart of Nashville, TN a brother, James Douglas preceded him in death.
Dick graduated from Monrovia, California High School and immediately enlisted in the Army serving from October 1946 to March 1948 which included a tour in Occupational Germany.
He graduated from Woodberry College in Las Angeles, CA and California Open Bible Institute in Pasadena, CA. Dick entered the ministry in 1954 and served as Senior Pastor in Open Bible Churches in Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Colorado and Idaho. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1971 and founded Christian Center Church of the Open Bible (now named Gateway Church).
A viewing will be held at Mountain View Mortuary on Friday August 28, 2015 from 2-3 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on Monday August 31, 2015.
