Cleo Dorothy Bailey, was born February 26, 1925, in Washburn, North Dakota. She had six sisters and two brothers. Dorothy graduated from Belgrade high school in Montana in 1942. She married in 1945 and was a Navy wife during WWII and after. She raised her four children in Florida and California. She worked as a secretary and in customer service, but her main occupation was homemaker and mom. A few years after being widowed she moved to Colorado Springs.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her great wit, wonderful memory, love of poetry, great cooking, humility, and her beautiful white hair. She loved knitting, sewing, reading, ice cream and coffee. Above all she was a devout Christian. She served as a children’s Bible class teacher, was hospitable, and loved helping others.
Dorothy’s husband, James Eric Bailey, died in 1981 of cancer. She is survived by her four children – Jim Bailey (wife-Cindy Bailey), Dennis Bailey (wife-Stella Bailey), Valerie Bailey, and Maureen Taylor (husband-Rob Taylor). She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren Emily Velez, Kaitin Lankford, Molly Taylor, Kerri Mitchell and Eric Bailey. She also had 10 great-grandchildren, Eva, Lexi, Max, Henry, Gideon, Truett, Jay, Bailey, Lynley and Eric James.
She passed from this life on June 3, 2021 at the age of 96 surrounded by her loving family.
