Cheryl Ann McClenton, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 14, 1958 the oldest of six children born to the late George and Carolyn Jones. Cheryl graduated from George Washington high school in 1976. After graduation Cheryl enlisted in the United States Army and retired with honors, and high achievements after eighteen years of service. After graduating with her masters in Social Work from Denver University in 2001, she fulfilled her life-long dream of working with veterans. Her contribution and determination earned her recognition from her superior’s and achieved a self-distinguishing reputation.
Family and friends were extremely important in her life. She enjoyed family, vacationing, dining, shopping and a second generation Bingo Fanatic, B-I-N-G-O!
Cheryl leaves behind to cherish her memory, two devoted children, Amanda Naomi Dyer and Brenea Lytton of Phoenix, Arizona; precious grandsons, Kuayveon, Kyrese, Kordell, Cameron, Kendall, Chauncey, Kedric; siblings, Catherine Richardson, Cynthia Littlejohn, Cindy Jones, George Jones and Reatha Houston; as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday February 7th, 2014 at 10:00 am at Shorter AME, 3100 Richard Allen Ct. Denver, Colorado 80205. Burial will take place at Fort Logan cemetery,
