Carol A. Goeson Nov. 25, 1939-Nov. 10, 2017 Carol was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Alden and Marie Dorff, and passed away Nov. 10 with her children at her side. Family, faith and service defined Carol’s life, and she found a way to laugh through the toughest of times. Her ongoing mantra was “You have to make your own fun. No one else is going to do it for you.” Carol was the fourth of five children and grew up with a large but close extended family. After high school, she entered the convent and taught in Catholic schools. She left the convent after realizing she wanted to have a family, but her faith remained strong. Carol continued teaching elementary school and tutoring reading students through the rest of her career. After retiring from teaching, Carol became a story teller, specializing in folk tales and sharing them with elementary aged children in Colorado, Vermont and Florida. Over the years, she volunteered for many causes, most recently Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Pikes Peak Region and Sisters Thrift & Boutique as well as providing meals through St. Patrick’s Church ministries. She also created beautiful quilts, blankets, wall hangings, table runners and other crafts to share with family and friends. Carol loved adventures, whether to destinations including Italy, New Zealand, England and Egypt or closer to home. She enjoyed trying new things – including indoor skydiving, zip lining and indoor climbing after she turned 70. She lived her life surrounded by family and friends who became family, and she spent her last day with her children, grandchildren and close friends. Carol is survived by her children Kevin Gregory, Tim Fiola (Lisa) and Christa Bell (Doug); grandchildren Isaac and Reece; and siblings Dick Dorff (JoAnn), Helen Aurzada (Andy), Eileen Rousseau and Jerry Dorff (Marilyn Chesnick). A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to CASA of the Pikes Peak Region (www.casappr.org), Benet Hill Monastery (http://www.benethillmonastery.org/), St. Patrick’s Church (www.stpatscs.org) or a charity of your choice.
