Carmen was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. She moved to Pittsburgh, PA at the age of 9 and then relocated to New York, NY. Carmen attended college and obtained an Associate’s degree in dental assisting.
Carmen met Ben in New York, NY in1966 while on vacation en route to Germany. Ben and Carmen were married in Fayetteville, NC on the 29th day of September 1969.
She is predeceased by her mother Maria Hudson and father George Hudson. Her sister Delia Santiago still resides in Puerto Rico and brother “Junior” Tirado (Deceased). From her husband’s side she is survived by sister in laws: Mae Gallop, Jenneal Wiggins (Rolando), Armelia Smith, Lillian Nichols (Robert), Ruby Gibson (Kenneth), Earlean Sears Sutton (Deceased), JoAnn Haskett. Brother in laws include: Edward Gregory (Deceased), Leronia Sears (Deceased) wife (Sandra), James Sears (Marion), Floyd Sears (Phyllis), Thedas Sears (Cynthia), Michael Sears (Deceased).
Carmen is survived by her husband Benjamin F. Sears of 47 years. Son Christopher Tyrell Sears A.K.A. Abdul Al-Haqq Shakur, Daughter in law Tanisha Sears,
3 grandchildren, (23) Khadijah Sears, (17) Malik Sears & (11) Malika Sears.
Carmen had a big heart and was full of love and joy, she will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Her faith was strong and her love for family stronger. God called his Angel home and may she Rest in Peace.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday March 16, 2015 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery
