Betty Louise Dodge, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30, 2011. She was born in Centralia, Illinois, June 23, 1931 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Ellis, she was one of two children.
Betty graduated from Hyde High School in 1949. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Dick, in 1951. They came west to Colorado Springs in March of 1953 where she was a loving wife of 60 years and raised three children.
Betty facilitated Bible Studies for young girls and served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church for many years.
Betty was passionate about her family, friends, the outdoors, reading, photography, music and above all else her relationship and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Richard E. Dodge, Sr.; loving children, Dick (Connie) Dodge, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Kathleen (Phil) Collins of Danville, California; Bryan (Margaret) Dodge of Lucas, Texas; precious grandchildren, Geoff, Rebecca, Nicole, Johnathan, Zach Dodge; as well as the newborn great-grandchildren, Luke and Levi Macaluso. Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Ellis.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, August 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou Street, Colorado Springs. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Department of First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs or Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
