Barbara was born January 14, 1931 in
Knobnoster, Missouri to Leonard and Mildred Boyd on a farm called the Reiber Place, which is now Whiteman Air Force Base.
In 1944 her family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she attended school at James Elementary, then Northeast. She accepted Jesus
as her Savior at a young age. On July 27, 1946, she married Ike Preston Gregory . Their first child, Michael Edward Gregory, was born on
May 23, 1947. Much to their surprise she had another son 21 years later, Craig Warren Gregory, born April 3,1968. They didn’t rush into
things!
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Leonard and Mildred Boyd; husband, Ike P. Gregory; son, Michael E. Gregory;
Grandchild, Jon Travis Gregory; brothers, Leonard Jr. and David Boyd; sisters, Pauline Boyd and Mary Boyd Baker.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law: Sherry Gregory (Michael’s widow). Son: Craig and Rose Gregory of Minden, Iowa; Grandsons, Craig
(Brooke) Gregory, Jr. and Thomas P. Gregory; Great grandchildren Ayden, Adelyn, Londyn, Francis, and Lucy; Sister, Rachel Boyd of
Colorado Springs; Brothers, John Boyd, Reuben Boyd of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and many relatives and friends.
Barbara worked at Unity Cafeteria for one year, Bosch Embroidery as a machine operator for four years, and the Nazarene Publishing House
for four years.
She enjoyed her job and had wonderful friends at Holland Nameplate and Engraving for 37 years as a punch-press operator and foreman in
the department that set up metal plates of all sorts - from serial number plates to airplane parts.
Barbara retired February 10, 1995 and in March moved to Colorado Springs to care for her mother and father.
She was a volunteer worker with Aspen Leaf School where she loved listening to children read to her. At Silver Key she stayed busy making
calls and visiting seniors. She was an active member at the Calvary Church where she enjoyed her friends, fellowshipping with the
congregation and stayed active with maintaining and decorating the church.
Barbara departed this life with her sister Rachel and brother Reuben by her side. She will be greatly missed but her memories will be
cherished till we see her at the great reunion in Heaven.
We would like to give a special thanks to Char, Katie, Reuben, Mattias and Tena for all the love and support you gave Barbara. She was so grateful for the outpouring of love and support.
Barbara was dedicated to the Lord. She was a loving and compassionate mother. She prayed for her family and when asked if there was one last thing she wanted to tell her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved ones...what would it be? She answered, “That I love you
with all my heart, and I expect to see you in Heaven.”
