Aileen A. Terrell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Almena, Kansas, March 22, 1927 the second of three children born to the late Floyd and Alice Archibald.
Aileen graduated from Almena Rural High School in 1944. After graduation she worked at the drug store in Norton, Kansas where she met her future husband, Gene Terrell. She attended a year of nursing school before eventually marrying in 1946 and settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she began work at Shepard’s Citations/McGraw-Hill as an editor/proof reader until retiring in 1987.
Aileen kept busy with Job’s Daughters, Eastern Star and Shrine activities with her husband, Gene. Holidays were always made special because of the laughs, love and good times that were shared together as a family. Her strong character and sense of humor will be greatly missed by those that love her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Gene (Noel E.) Terrell; loving children, Sue Morford and husband Ken of Divide, Colorado and Mary Briscoe and husband Keith of Fountain, Colorado; loving grandchildren, Kristin Morford, David Morford and his wife Kelly, T.J. Rarig and Cori Rarig; great-grandson, Connor Morford. She is also survived by brother, Eldon Archibald, as well as many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Alice Archibald as well as her oldest brother, Billy Archibald.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. Burial will be immediately following at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be after the burial at Garden of the Gods Event Center, 320 S. Weber, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
