Mr. Weldon McMillan, age 81, of Colorado City, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in a local care center. Burial will be at 11 AM Friday, May 9, 2014 in the Handley Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2 PM Friday, May 9, 2014, in the First Baptist Church of Colorado City with Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Weldon was born March 6, 1933 in Cuthbert, Texas to Robert E. and Versie Pace McMillan and had been a lifelong resident of Mitchell County. He married Edna Pearl Joiner on May 8, 1953 in Andrews, TX. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1997. He then married June Black Petty on December 13, 1997 in Colorado City. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2011. He was farmer and oilfield employee, a veteran of the US Army and a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by 5 sons: Robert McMillan of Abilene, Kelvin McMillan of Marietta, OK, Karlton McMillan of Colorado City; Kerry Clay of Weatherford and Kraig McMillan of Elbert, TX; 2 daughters: Karalie Fort of Ira and Kristi Carroll of Bangs; a siste, Lujuanna Solomon of Colorado City; and 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert McMillan, Jr. and a sister, Etta Lee.
