Funeral services for Stacia Turner, 47, will be held Saturday, January 12 at 11 a.m. at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Smith, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale. She died Sunday, January 6 at her home.
Stacia was born August 13, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois to Wayne and Yvonne Clark, former residents of Colorado City. She graduated from Kermit High School in 1983, and attended Angelo State University in San Angelo before transferring to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she obtained her Bachelor of Education degree in 1991. She taught in the Midland and San Marcos school districts, and worked for the State of Texas Early Childhood Development Services in Odessa, Midland, and Denver City.
Her passion was working with deaf children and their parents. She was employed by the San Marcos Independent School District in that capacity at the time of her death.
She is survived by her daughter, Alyx and husband, Sgt. John Douglas, US Army, of Fayetteville, NC., her son, Lance Corporal Kirby Turner, USMC, Camp LeJeune, NC., her parents, Wayne and Yvonne Clark of Lubbock, her sisters, Kathy Hammond and husband, Kenny of Colorado City and Chrystal Walker and husband, Marvin of Haysville, KS; nieces, Carla Sauer and Amie Wood of Colorado City; nephews, Daniel Hammond of Colorado City, Eric Hammond of Madison, WY, Nathan Walker of Wichita, KS and Sam Walker of Haysville, KS.
She is also survived by aunts and uncles, Don and Ellen Clark of Enid, OK; Sue Burkhart of Lubbock, TX, Mickey Roland of Phoenix, AZ, and Betty and Terry Martin of Keller, TX. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil and Obie Clark, and J.B. and Edna Buckner, former long-time residents of Colorado City.
Pallbearers will be Ty Wood, Andrew Sauer, Eric Hammond, Daniel Hammond, Sam Walker, Nathan Walker, Marvin Walker, and Kenny Hammond.
