He was born on July 11, 1948 in the city of Loraine Texas to J.M. and Aurora DeLoera Muñoz.
John was a down to earth man who loved his God, his family, and his community with all his heart, and he stayed faithful to all. He always thought of others first, he found pleasure in helping, whether it was his church, handing food out to the homeless, giving to the schools, or helping the church with Santa duties. He was a man full of compassion, always staying humble and staying to his word as a family man. Everyone knew he was a kind soul despite his prankster ways or his witty comebacks. When not working at the power plant he could be seen with his family, his church, or fulfilling his duties with the Knights of Columbus.
To describe John in two words one could say he was a “Mommas Boy”, the type of man that makes a great husband, father, and grandfather. John enjoyed listening to his music, dancing, riding his motorcycle, hunting, using his guns, and golfing. He was also a firm believer in staying hydrated during his time off. Family was John’s life, when he could be around them he would be, and though he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys he really loved watching his nieces and nephews play sports. John will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of over 52 years Cecelia Muñoz, by his mother Aurora Muñoz both of Loraine, by a son JG Muñoz of Arlington, and by two grandchildren Kristian Muñoz and Sebastian Muñoz of Round Rock. He is also survived by his brothers Jesse Muñoz of Colorado City, Tommy Muñoz and husband Carlos Fredrick of San Antonio, and Jaime Muñoz and wife Julie of Loraine, and by sisters Lydia Baeza of Odessa, Irene Muñoz of Loraine, Gloria Limones of Loraine, and Sara Barrera and husband Jesse of Loraine, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father J.M. Munoz, by his sons John Christopher Muñoz and John Muñoz Jr and by a daughter Cynthia Anne Muñoz
