She was born in Lamesa Texas to Bill and Mary Lou Carter on December 2, 1948.
Dorothy was a devout Christian who read and lived by her Bible. In 1968 Dorothy moved to Houston with her family where she spent several years working as a Dental Office Manager and as a real-estate agent. In 1986 the family moved back to Colorado City where she went to work for a chiropractor’s office until moving to Texas Farm Bureau starting as an office manager and working her way up to an insurance agent, a job she enjoyed up until she retired. Throughout her life she enjoyed going to the lake with family and being the best wife, mother, and memaw that she could be. The lessons she taught her family and the love shared were a true blessing and will be cherished and passed down through generations.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Billy Bell and wife Lee of Cypress and Kevin Bell and wife Julie of Lubbock, by grandchildren Ryan Bell, Reagan Bell, Ashton Drury, and Dr. Bailey Bell, and by great-grandchildren Harper and Denver Drury. She is also survived by sisters Diane, Cathy, and Benona.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Bell, her father Bill Carter, her mother Mary Lou Spears, and by her brother Randy Wilson.
A graveside service for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, November 1st in the Dorn Cemetery at 2pm with Pastor Don Vinson from Oak St Baptist Church officiating.
