He is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia McFadden (nee Morris), loving children: Joseph (Andrea), Patrick (Kathy Bennett), Clare (Ed Sbardellati), Laura (Matthew Cogliano), Bridget (Jon Brown), and Stephen (Debra Coyle); grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Sarah, Torrie, Julian, Ray, Eliza, Matthew, and Owen. Joseph is pre-deceased by his son, Brian McFadden. He grew up in Camden, N.J. and was the son of the late Catherine (nee Gallagher) and James McFadden.
Dearest son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was smart and funny, a relentless needler, and an all-around nice guy. His family can recite innumerable jokes he told again and again. He sang every day, always making up his own words to the songs. He was the embodiment of happy-go-lucky. He was an avid fitness fanatic, playing basketball until he was 80 years old, as well as being a regular at his local gym.
He had such a gift with his own children and later on with his grandchildren. He taught his kids how to ride bikes, taking them out for an ice cream, the Jersey shore, amusement parks, or a Sixers’ game. He loved playing hide and seek with his grandchildren, teaching them pool shots, and monkeying around with them.
He had a long and successful career as a computer programmer and then as a V.P. of Data Systems Analysts in Pennsauken, N.J. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps, first as a paper boy, then store manager, followed by a job at RCA in Camden.
He will be terribly missed by his family.
