Virginia Muriel Sherman (Cookie), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother went home to be with her Lord and Savior this week. She was born December 20th, 1941 to Andrew and Lucy Sherman in Richmond, Virginia. She raised her family in Hampton, Virginia where she also received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Christopher Newport University. She moved to Collierville, Tennessee in 1999, where she retired from Delta Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, survived by her brother Andrew Sherman (Mary Jane) from Virginia Beach, Virginia and sister Betty Griese (Richard) from Tubaz, Arizona. She is greatly missed by her four children and their spouses, twins Christine Malcom (engaged to Brian Richards) and Patricia Rumburg (Cory), Sydney Carter (Johnnie), and Drew Gentry (Amber); ten grandchildren, Kyra, Michael, Victor, Lucy, Katie, Molly, Cody, Shelby, Andrew, Juliette; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Luke and Reese. Virginia loved the beach, her beloved dog Chester, making wreaths for others, and treasured family gatherings. She will be sadly missed by all that were blessed to know her. Virginia’s wishes were to be cremated with her ashes scattered over the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia during a private ceremony in the summer.
