Sara was born to the late Samuel and Eva Lee Campbell Tucker in Pitt County, North Carolina, on September 24, 1945. Along with her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Tucker Harrell.
Sara leaves behind her husband, Larry Alva Dunn, and daughter, Amy Dunn Stewart and husband, Baker Stewart of Collierville, TN, and daughter, Holly Dunn Wade and husband, Doug Wade, of Greenville, MS; grandchildren, Harrison Stewart, Campbell Stewart, Eva Wade and Maggie Wade.
Sara was a loving wife, mother, sister, and Mimi. She always had a big smile on her face. She and Larry celebrated 56 years of marriage. She loved golfing, knitting scarves for her grandchildren, painting, afternoon drives, and picnics in the park. She also loved reading and spending time with her family.
Sara attended East Carolina College and began her career in education. She went on to receive a Masters of Education degree from East Carolina and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She retired after 40 years of working in the school system as teacher, counselor, and administrator.
Sara fought a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. She appreciated the loving care of Baptist Cancer Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Botanical Gardens of Memphis or the Dixon Gallery and Garden.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville, TN 38017. Services will follow at 6:00 p.m.
