Edith was born May 7, 1940 in Springfield Massachusetts to Eric and Eleanor Larson. She had an older brother Edward who preceded her in death. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Carl William Bengtson also preceded her in death.
Edith graduated from North Park College and Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago Illinois with a BS degree in Nursing in 1963. That same year, she married Carl. They lived most of their life in upstate New York and moved to Tennessee in 2015 to be near family.
Edith was always thankful for her nursing education, applying it to medical issues in her family throughout her life. She loved to garden and play tennis. In 1981, she went to Lynchburg College and received a BA Degree in Music. From an early age, music was one of her life’s passions. She sang in numerous choirs. She taught music in a Christian school, directed children’s choirs, played piano in church, and taught piano. Helping people sing and play music skillfully in praise to God the Creator of music was her goal. A special privilege was teaching piano to several of her grandchildren.
Edith is survived by her sons, Scott & Nancy and Todd & Margit Bengtson, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
