Germantown, TN – Claudia Nancy Cornwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, just two days shy of her 77th birthday. She was born on December 12, 1947, in Marlborough, MA, to the late Edward and Margaret Ware. Claudia grew up in Berlin, MA and spent the majority of her life in Germantown, TN, where she built a cherished family and legacy.
Claudia was known for her entrepreneurial spirit, having owned and operated a successful jewelry business that reflected her keen eye for beauty and craftsmanship. She was passionate about her work, and her creativity and attention to detail were evident in everything she did.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Claudia was a vibrant and active person. She was an avid walker, golfer, and bowler, and she loved staying active with friends and family. She embraced life with enthusiasm and grace, always seeking out new adventures and making lasting memories along the way.
Claudia’s greatest joy, however, came from her family. She was deeply proud of her children, Chad Cornwell (wife Jamie and granddaughter Madeline) and Amy Cornwell (husband Samir Afif). She also shared a close bond with her sister, Paula Gregory (husband Gene), and her nieces, Abbie Bryant and Kristin Gregory. Her love and devotion to her family were evident in all that she did.
Claudia was married to her devoted husband, Gary Raymond Cornwell, for 53 wonderful years. Their partnership was built on love, respect, and shared experiences, and together they created a life full of laughter and joy.
Claudia’s smile was one that could light up any room, and her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had an innate ability to make others feel valued and cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have shared in her life.
Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Ware, and is survived by her husband, Gary Raymond Cornwell, her children, her sister and extended family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 10, 2025, at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Rd, Collierville, TN 38017. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, followed by the service from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. A reception with light refreshments will follow.

Claudia will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the incredible impact she had on those who knew and loved her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
