Sherrilyn Sue Smith Landry passed away on September 5, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 57. She leaves behind her husband, Dave Landry; and her son Andrew Dale Tolbert Smith.
Sherri was born on June 9, 1960 at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, Ca to father John Tolbert Smith and mother Mary Ann Smith, who predeceased her. She grew up in a loving family with one sister and two brothers. She graduated from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, TX in 1978. Sherri married the love of her life, Dave Landry on September 5, 2015. They were drawn to each other by their mutual love for travel and camping. The couple continued to live in the Hurst area along with Sherri’s son, Andrew. Sherri loved crocheting, cooking and taking care of others, but more than anything her passion was her family. She was a bright light and ever-present positive force for all she met, and we now rejoice that Sherri has now found peace in the arms of her Savior. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016, she remained dedicated in her work of 22 years at Dillards as an Administrative Assistant, and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Sherri is survived by her husband and son, as well as her sister, Sherri Landers; brother Stan Smith; two nieces and two nephews; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew. She is preceded in death by her mother, and her brother Shannon Dale Smith.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 23, 2017 2pm at Bellevue Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas. Sherri requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred at Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas. The family would especially like to thank Dr. A. Ohman and the staff of Community Hospice of Texas in Arlington for their constant, attentive treatment.
In lieu of flowers please honor Sherri with a donation to the American Cancer Society.
