On Saturday, February 6, 2021, Rose Marie Werley Shultz, loving mother of three children, passed away at the age of 90 in Denton, Texas.
Rose was born on April 22,1930 in Chicota, Texas, to Leamon Raymond “Jack” Werley and Alice Clara Woolf Werley, the 3rd of nine children. She graduated from Crowell High School in 1949 and married Carl Wendell Shultz on October 14, 1950 in Thalia, Texas. They had one son, Jerry Wendell (Karen), and two daughters, Teena Marie Shultz Reynolds and Kimberley Shultz-Rainford (Clyde). Grandchildren: Bryan Shultz (Kristi), Christopher Reynolds, Ashley Reynolds Hoyle (Will), Eric Reynolds (Brooke), Delaney Rainford, Mitchell Rainford, Mason Rainford, and Danae Reynolds (Calvin). Great- grandchildren: Hannah Shultz, Skylar Montoya, Haylee Shultz, Jake Hoyle, Arianna Hoyle, and Bryston Cain.
Rose also leaves behind one brother (Donald Werley) and two sisters (Mary Werley Whetstone & Carylon Werley Thompson), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers (Raymond & Jimmy Dean), 2 sisters (Geneva Werley Haire & Peggy Werley Carroll), 1 granddaughter (Courtney Shultz), and 1 son-in-law (Randy Reynolds). Additionally, she lost another brother (Denton Werley) on February 10, 2021.
Rose was, like her mother and siblings, an incredible cook, seamstress, and gardener. She had a passion for crocheting, especially baby blankets, something she continued doing until she recently became ill. Rose worked alongside her husband in their family machine shop, until Carl became ill with Alzheimer’s. She then took on the role of loving caregiver for her husband who passed in 1993.
She began working for Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD as a school bus monitor until she retired after 17 years of service. Rose lived in Euless for 56 years prior to moving to Denton 4 years ago.
She was never too busy to enjoy visiting with her friends or family, whether playing Bingo, Domino Train, 42, or working a jigsaw puzzle. She made new friends until the end due to her positive outlook and eagerness to interact with others.
Visitation has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 25, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at J. E. Foust & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, at 10:00am at J. E.
