Mary Frances Melton passed away on July 15, at her home in Hurst, TX. She will be remembered as wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ.
She was born July 9, 1931, in Juno, Tennessee, to Lydia and John Wilburn Douglas. On March 6, 1948, she married Carl Melton and began her life as a wife and mother.
After the death of her husband in 1989, she volunteered in her church library and conducted craft classes for over twenty years. She was able to travel with church friends to Europe and Israel. (Her family joked that she was on the church bus every time it left the parking lot.) She played the domino game, Chicken Foot every week and attended country and western shows at Johnny High's theater as often as possible.
Mary developed her love of sewing, crocheting, and quilting from her mother and family will treasure the gifts made especially for them.
Mary is survived by her children, Janie Melton-Judy, Randy Melton, Sharon Moore, Steve Melton, and Sandra Harrison; her brother, Joe Douglas and his wife Virginia; her sisters-in law, Martha Douglas, and Betty Jo Douglas; and her much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Melton; her sisters, Mabel Thomas and Melba Taylor; her brothers, Curtis Douglas, Cletus Douglas and James Douglas.
