She was born on April 4, 1940, in Delta City, Mississippi, on a farm by the Mississippi River where her family grew sugarcane and cotton. At the age of five, she moved to Muleshoe, Texas, where she was raised and grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and Southern roots
On October 12, 1956, she married the love of her life, G.A. Cox. Their 68 beautiful years together stood as a quiet testament to enduring love and lifelong partnership. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Their marriage was not only a source of strength for each other but an inspiration to all who knew them — a true example of what it means to walk hand in hand and side by side through life.
To him, she was always his “Lil' Darlin'” — a tender nickname he used with devotion every day of their life together. It was a small phrase, but it held a lifetime of affection, admiration, and love. Even in the smallest moments, their love spoke volumes.
Linda was an exceptional mother to two children, Kimary Cox and Shane Cox.
“Mems,” as she was affectionately known to her grandchildren, was also a devoted grandmother to Chris Prince (Taylor), Josh Liebelt (Jessica), Amber Liebelt, and Dakota Cox (Allie). She was blessed with three great-grandchildren — RJ Ritchey, Mary Margaret Prince, and Carter Liebelt — all of whom brought her endless pride and joy.
A resident of Bedford, Texas, Linda was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and incredible Southern cooking. She loved gathering her family around the table, often serving meals made from scratch — and her mashed potatoes were the stuff of legend. She poured love into every dish and every moment spent with those she cherished. Linda also served as Vice President of G.A. Cox Company for many years.
She had a special love for collecting angels — and it was only fitting, because she was an angel on earth to her family and friends. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone around her. With a quick wit and a sense of humor that could light up any room, she was always ready with a clever joke or a playful comment that brought smiles and laughter wherever she went.
Linda will be remembered for the strength she carried, the love she gave so freely, and the comfort she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of her family and friends.
