Luther F. "Sonny" Smith, beloved husband, dad, Papa, and great Papa went home to the arms of Jesus on March 13, 2016. He was retired from the US Department of Agriculture and served in the US Army. He spent his retirement doing mission work helping build churches and camps for underprivileged kids. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of God, family, wood working, and his famous fried catfish. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Carolyn, his daughters, Denise Hendley and Pam Hill, his two sons-in-love, Mark Hendley and Greg Hill, and his adopted son by love, Larry Watson. He has five grandchildren and four grandchildren in love: Matt & Kim Hendley, Rebecca & Tyler Hall, Aaron & Brandis Hendley, Hannah & Todd Haymans, and Melissa Hendley. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Braelyn, Mason, & Taryn Hendley, Casen & Georgia Hall, and Camryn and Deacon Hendley, as well as other relatives and friends. A service to celebrate his life will be held at First Baptist Church, Euless, Texas on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the large chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to...
