Lila was born to George and Dorothy Cody on December 10th, 1941, in Tulsa Oklahoma. She spent her youth in Tulsa graduating from Central High School in the class of 1960.
Soon after graduating she met the love of her life and married Dave Herman who was enlisted in the US Navy. Lila loved being an airman’s wife and was proud to be involved in the Barbers Point Navy Wives Club in Kapolei, Hawaii. After moving to California, they became parents to Mark David Herman. Shortly after, they moved to Euless Tx where Patrick was born. Then making a move to North Richland Hills TX on Holiday Ln where they met some of their most important lifetime friends.
After spending six years there they moved to their final destination out in the country on Douglas Ln, also in North Richland Hills. Lila had a talent for gardening and kept her yards beautifully landscaped. She
prided herself in keeping her home beautiful inside and out.
Friends and family had an open invitation to her home for visits and talks, (BOY DID . SHE LOVE TO TALK)
Some of the things she got to enjoy were serving on the PTA at Snow Heights Elementary School, collecting antiques, and managing the gift store Accents and Gifts. She found pleasure in many of these, but the thing she loved most was spending time with her grandson, Ryan. She would light up the room when he would call or show up to visit.
Lila was preceded in death by husband Dave, Father George Cody, Mother Dorothy Cody, Sister Georgia and Brother Randy.
Lila is survived by Son Mark Herman of Arlington TX, Son Patrick Herman and Gail Whitman of Casper WY, Grandson Ryan Herman of Arlington TX and Tram (Chum) Nguyen of FT. Worth TX.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home; 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, Texas 76034. Funeral Service will be Friday, November 8, 2024 at 930am at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Interment will be at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery following the funeral service.
It is with grateful hearts that we give thanks to Chum for going above and beyond caring for “MOM”. Mom often mentioned that she would not have been able to stay in her home as she wished if you had not shown her such LOVE and CARE.
