John “Jay” Lewis, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 20th in Sherwood, Arkansas. He will always be remembered as a loving father, doting grandfather, loyal friend, and Cowboys enthusiast to all that knew and loved him. He was born on April 2nd, 1936 in Truman, Arkansas to Marvin Oscar and Ethel (Clining) Lewis.
John worked at Bell Helicopter for thirty years as an electrician, and he proudly contributed to the completion of the vertical lift-off Osprey. He served his country in the Army signal core. He as a member of Family Life Bible Church for ten years, and he was also a member of the Scottish clan, MacLeods. His hobbies included cheering on his favorite team, the Cowboys, gardening, and tending to his beautiful lawn.
John is survived by his sister Kathleen Love and her husband Calvin of Jonesboro, AR, daughter Gina Gaynor and her husband Eddy Gaynor of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter Nikki Nelson and husband Ren Nelson of Aubrey, Texas, grandson Andre Gaynor and wife Angel Gaynor of Dallas, Texas, and great-grandsons Quinn and August Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on May 29th at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 in the afternoon on Friday, May 29th at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park with a reception to follow in the Bluebonnet Family Lounge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
