Jo Ann Hogg, former Little Rock, AR resident, passed from this world into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2023, in Bedford, TX at the age of 91. Jo Ann was born in Lafayette, TN on February 4, 1932, to Mable and Hooper Cook. At the age of nine following her mother’s death she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Oneida “Sug” and Clay Cook, in Hobart, OK. She always thought of them as her parents and they eventually became the doting grandparents to her children as well. Jo Ann attended Harding University for two years before marrying Jack Hogg on December 21, 1952. They lived in Memphis, TN where their three children were born before moving to Little Rock. Jo Ann was a homemaker, a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ (formerly Pulaski Heights) and active in their Golden Years ministry, participated in multiple bridge clubs, CPA Wives Club, and PTA, and always a wholehearted supporter of all activities involving her children. She was the absolute “best” to her numerous lifelong friends from her church and neighborhood. After 30 years of marriage, Jo Ann went to work in retail clothing at Dillard’s where she was often the top sales associate thanks to her friends and clients who would only shop when she was available. She worked there for over 20 years, retired for a few months, then returned to work part-time at The Crown Shop until she was 83. Jo Ann lived in Maumelle with her son until 2017 when she moved to an assisted living facility in Grapevine, TX following a prolonged hospital stay. Her last six years were spent enjoying laughs, meals (and snacks), table games, sporting events, and visits with her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her new friends at Meadowood. At her latest home, she assisted in starting a church service and Bible study and recognized her purpose in being there was to give a friendly welcome to incoming residents. Jo Ann had a unique relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren due to her invested time in their lives and enhanced by her fun personality, generous spirit, and unconditional love.
Jo Ann is survived by her children: Joan (Gail) Gregg, Jana (Ed) Mulligan, and John Hogg; grandchildren: Grant (Courtney) Gregg, Jamie (Jared) Peel, Ryan (Rebekah) Mulligan, Reid Mulligan, and Julie (Jerrod) Carroll; 10 great-grandchildren: Jaxson, Gracyn, and Hudson Gregg; Gage and Graham Peel; Ellie and Bennett Mulligan; Cooper, Camden, and Case Carroll; a special niece, Cindy Richmond; cousins; several nieces; a nephew; and many friends she accumulated over the years. Thank you to her doctor (granddaughter-in-law), Dr. Rebekah Mulligan, who has provided loving care for the past six years. A graveside service will be held at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle, AR on Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life with family and friends will be held on November 26th, 2023 in Texas. If you so choose, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity or church of your choice.
