George Robert Howard, Jr., was born on September 18, 1937 in Haynes, Arkansas, and passed away May 25, 2023 at 85 years of age. He was predeceased by his Mother, Florence "Missy" Howard and George Robert Howard, Sr., as well as by his sister Shirley Wallace, and Brother Robert Howard. He is survived by his youngest brother John Howard. George Howard is also survived by his wife of sixty years, Susan Roberta Howard, his son Stephen Howard, and daughter, Janet Howard. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Wiley Howard, Evie Meegan, Veronica Howard, and Seth Howard.
George passed away peacefully in his home, in his favorite spot at his computer, television, and Xbox. George was a US Army veteran, who joined to see the world, but only got to see Fort Bliss, El Paso. But, it was the Army that taught him radar and electronics, which would be the foundation for his career. George worked most of his life at the Greater Southwest Air Traffic Control Center, where he retired from the FAA as a highly respected computer administrator. El Paso is also, by nearly chance, where George met the love of his life, Susan Howard.
These are dry facts that do not tell the story of a beloved son, brother, husband, father, friend, coworker, and mentor. George Howard is survived by a massive number of people whose lives he impacted. This group of people were family to George Howard, as to know him was to know love, kindness, and respect.
George will be missed. He lived a full life, he connected on a deeper level with everyone he met. He was above all else always reliable and was always there for those in need. Now, he is not, and he will be lovingly missed
Funeral services will be at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery, starting with visitation at 9am. The service will be at 10am. With internment immediately following.
