GARY LYNN CLAY passed away quietly on September 2, 2017 after a long illness. He was a beloved gentleman who leaves behind many grieving family and friends. Gary Clay was born on January 3, 1938 in Big Spring, TX to his parents Aubrey Calvin Clay and Verna Louise Huett-Clay. They moved to Fort Worth and he graduated from North Side High School along with his future wife and childhood sweetheart Linda Carol Hotchkiss who he married on September 6, 1957 and with whom he had two children. He enlisted in the Army and served as a military policeman in Korea from 1959 to 1961 and in the Army Reserves until 1964. He held several jobs, eventually going to work at General Motors where he retired. Gary was a founding member and an officer of the Fort Worth Thunderbirds RC airplane association as well as the Greater Southwest RC club and built and flew Radio Controlled airplanes throughout his life. He loved working on cars and motorcycles and attracted sponsorship attention from Detroit manufacturers in his youth. Gary was a lifetime fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys and an avid follower of NASCAR racing. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing for black bass. Gary Clay was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda Carol and is survived by his sister Frances Williams of Maumelle, AR, son Robin Clay and his wife Linda Alicia, his daughter Turia Niekamp and her husband Joseph, his grandchildren Jeremy and Ian Clay, Erin Elise Lofties of Norman, OK, Patrick Williams of Glendale, CA, and great-grandchildren Story and Pepper Clay. Relatives and friends are invited to a simple graveside service to be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Colleyville Boulevard at Hall Johnson Road, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard, Colleyville, TX 76034. Signs will be posted inside the Memorial Park to mark the way to the service.
