David “Dave” Wagner, also affectionately known as “Poppy”, was that person who immediately brings a smile to your face when you think of him. He stood out in his own uniquely special way in this world with a true servant’s heart and he is without a doubt serving our Father in heaven now.
Dave was born on September 9, 1939 in Utica, NY. Once graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and then married his sweetheart, Judy (Dudley) Wagner. He served 20 years in the Navy and they have celebrated 64 years of marriage together which are both honorable and respected.
He retired as a Naval Chief Petty Officer in 1976 where the Wagner family moved from Maryland to Texas. Dave began his next career chapter as a Life and Health Insurance Professional. He earned the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) professional designation.
Over the years, he has served his community in many ways; Registered Representative, Troop Scoutmaster, Grand Knight - Bedford Council (3 times), Hurst Fire and Police Volunteer, Emergency Response Volunteer and was a Meals on Wheels Volunteer.
Dave’s devotion to his faith in God and his family has always been his strength. He is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Bedford. The family agrees that his silly sense of humor is what will probably be missed the most but rest assured, the tradition will live on!!
He is Survived by Judy Wagner (wife) of Hurst, David and Inge Wagner (son/wife) of Hurst, Amy and Bobby Frasier (daughter/husband) of Bedford, Whitney and Adam Sumii (granddaughter/husband) of Northlake, Charles Dreyer (grandson) of Dallas, Michael Leclerq (grandson) of Grapevine, Savannah Frasier (granddaughter) of Carrollton, and great grandchildren Rhett, Liam and Ellie.
A Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church- Bedford, Texas on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 12:00 pm followed by a reception at 1:00 pm.
Interment with military honors will take place at Dallas Fort National Cemetery at a date that is to be determined.
