It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dalton David Powell, who unexpectedly passed away on November 9th, 2024. Dalton was a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and friend who brought joy, warmth and loving spirit to everyone who knew and loved him.
Dalton was born August 13th, 1996 in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, the son of Shelly and Jeff Powell. Dalton’s light shone brightly in the lives of his family and friends. He graduated from Southlake Carroll Senior High School in 2015, where he cherished his high school friends. While playing many sports, he found his calling with the Southlake Carroll Target Team, qualifying for state competition his senior year. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas Tech University in 2019. He was a very proud member of his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), developing lifelong friends and brothers.
Dalton found his career in the construction industry. He worked for several companies, including most recently SYB Builders, with the desire and drive to develop his own company.
Dalton had a passionate love of the outdoors. He enjoyed his favorite and most joyful time in the wild with his father, brother and many other family and friends. His outdoor adventures are a testament to his boldness, adventurous spirit and passion for life.
Though his time with us was far too brief, Dalton’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering positivity will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know and love him.
He is survived by his parents Shelly and Jeff Powell of Southlake, TX, brother Dylan Powell and wife Megan (nephew Rhett) of Houston, TX, sister Maddie Powell of Dallas, TX. He was cherished by his grandparents, Mary Kay and David Mayes of Pottsboro, TX and Gale and Brian Powell of Denison, TX. He is also survived by Aunt Julia Mayes (children Caitlin, Austin, JP and fiancé Courtney) and by his many cousins, extended family members and his beloved rescued puppy, Athena.
He is preceded in death by his beloved Uncle Cecil Mayes.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Southlake, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of his favorite causes for conservation and community charity; Ducks Unlimited or GRACE Grapevine, TX.
