Carol Moran

Carol Moran, a generous and kind spirit, passed away on March 15, 2024 at the age of 80. A long-time resident of Grapevine, Texas and a world traveler with a sparkling laugh, she will be dearly missed by her friends and family near and far.

Carol leaves behind her sister, Claudia Moran, and nieces, Jessica (Thomas) Gershman and Amelia (Kristen) Simoncelli. Carol was also a dear great-aunt to Joseph and David Gershman and Quinn Simoncelli. Preceding her in death were her loving parents,

Raymond and Eleanor Moran, and her brother-in-law, Rick Simoncelli, with whom she had an abiding friendship.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Carol was a devoted daughter who had a close relationship

with her parents throughout their lives. She always admired her father for teaching her to never be afraid to take on a home improvement project and for believing that she could accomplish anything in her life. Her mother, who always worked outside the home, was a living example of what a woman could do in the world and encouraged Carol to follow her dreams (… but to always do it carrying a tasteful handbag!)

Carol retired in 2007 after a 43-year career in the travel industry, beginning as a reservation agent at TWA in Pittsburgh and ending at Sabre as Vice President of Airline Pricing Operations. Her path took her through Kansas City and eventually to Dallas with American Airlines. She was Director of Customer Service at the Sabre Software Help Desk (1989-1994), and Vice President of Customer Service (1994-2003) where she led several desks supporting Sabre’s travel agency partners by providing world class service, issue resolution and back-office support. Throughout her impressive career, Carol prioritized collaboration and world-class service, leading many strategic initiatives to modernize airline operations and improve the industry’s customer service practices. Carol became Vice President of Airline Pricing Operations in 2003 until she retired in 2007. In this role, she led the teams that provided exceptional service to Sabre’s airline partners in fare loading and pricing issue resolution, along with supporting travel agency partners with pricing issues.

An inspiring and passionate leader who made a positive difference to so many, Carol also built many lifelong friendships during her career. She cared deeply for her teams and had many friends through her work and colleagues who treasured her warmth and sense of humor.

Carol fought and won a yearlong battle with cancer in 2023, only to succumb to an

array of health issues triggered by heart disease. Carol is deeply missed and will remain present as we carry and cherish her memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org or 800-272-3900).

A celebration of her life will take place on May 11, 2024, 1-4 pm, at Timarron Country Club, 1400 Byron Nelson Pkwy, Southlake, TX 76092.
