Elizabeth Gertrude O’Neal, 86, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, June 29, in Houston. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 1 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2 at A&M Church
of Christ. Interment will follow at College Station City Cemetery. Elizabeth was born February 20, 1925 in Kölzig, Germany to Otto and Hulda Wegner. Elizabeth was raised on a farm in northeast Germany. After attending university in Berlin during WW2, she taught school in Heidelberg for the children of U.S. Military. She and Nolan were married there more than 60 years
ago. Elizabeth worked part time for the Texas A&M Registrar’s Office for more than 20 years where she made many close friends. She has always loved having a garden, caring for the birds and creatures in it, and above all her faith and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Klaus Wegner and Wilhelm Wegner; and sister Eva. Survivors include her husband, Major Nolan O’Neal, retired of Bryan; daughter, Rebecca O’Neal of Bryan; sons, Ron O’Neal and wife, Diane of McKinney, Nolan A. O’Neal and wife, Denise of Bellaire; grandchildren, Sharon Taylor of Woodstock, Ga., Brian O’Neal of
Houston, Chris O’Neal of Irving, Michelle O’Neal of College Station, Julie Brymer of Houston, Elisa O’Neal of Bellaire; two greatgrandchildren, Grayson Taylor and Jude Brymer; and sister, Helga Hagebock and cousin, Freidel Rath and their families in Germany.
