James Michael Almond, the Beloved Son, of Linda and Mike Almond, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Michael is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, James and Frances White and Bennie and Louise Almond. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Sandy and Wayne Allen (Riverdale), Toni and Mike Wallace (Senoia), Brenda White (Union City), and Bill and Kay Cooper (Suwanee), and cousins, Keri Allen and Charles Ray, Wendy Crank, Josh Wallace, Nathan and Grace Wallace, Amanda and Kyle Digby and little Rowan, Will Cooper and the very special and much-loved Valerie Crank.
Michael was born in East Point on December 27, 1970. He attended Jere A. Wells ES and graduated from Russell High School in 1991.
For the last 30 years he has resided in Newnan. His two passions in life were bull riding (and he had the scars to prove it) and short track racing. One of his favorite past times was tagging along with his dad and his race car to all the short tracks around Georgia including the Peach Bowl, Dixie Speedway, JefCo, Lanier and Macon Speedway.
Michael was friendly to strangers and would strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen to him talk. One of his greatest attributes was that he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. His memory will be treasured by his family and friends.
A visitation for James will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5755 Mallory Rd, College Park, GA 30349. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In honor of Michael's life, please consider wearing jeans to his visitation and graveside services.
