Hylen A. Traver, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at Tendercare of Marshall. He was born December 12, 1920 to Alvinson and Nellie (Burleson) Traver in Gladwin, Michigan. He lived in Branch County most of his life.
Hylen volunteered for 12 years as a foster grandparent, he worked with Southern Michigan Grocery as a truck driver for 38 years then at C.J. Carlisle for 14 years. Hylen was an active member of the Coldwater Free Methodist Church in Coldwater. He loved to collect anique car models and he liked to travel in Michigan especially up to the Mackinac Bridge.
He is survived by a daughter; Jean (Dan) Blakely, granddaughter; Amy (Alan) Fenner, great grandchildren; Nicholas (Tonya) Spencer, Rachyl Spencer, Jacob Fenner, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma, his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a grandson; Heath Carnahan.
A visitation will be held, Monday, July 16, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Free Methodist Church in Coldwater with Pastor Nelson Brandymore officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foster Grandparent Program, in lieu of flowers.
