She was preceded in death by her husband John “Red” May, son-in-law, Jeffrey Battell, and her great-grandson, Riley Fowler. She was the only surviving child of 7 of Edward and Pearl Bolton (Oklahoma).
She was loved and will always be remembered by her son, Buster May (Sue) of Iron Station, NC; daughters, Teresa Battell (Randal Carman) of Cocoa; Cynthia Butler (Craig) of Palm Bay; Valorie Helmer (Jim) of Port St. John; and son, James May (Denise) of Orange Park, Florida. She was beloved and very proud grandma of 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Although she was born in Lincolnton, NC, she lived most of her life in Cocoa. She was a great cook, seamstress, loved gardening and flowers. She enjoyed friends and family, going out to eat, reading, traveling, dancing, all of her pets, bowling, and occasional gambling. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Ladder Day Saints and of the American Legion Post 359. She ended her long career as a cashier at Walmart after working numerous years in several receiving docks at retail stores.
Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to the entire Wuesthoff Hospice team and especially to Brian.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 immediately followed by the memorial service and then the graveside service. All will take place at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home located at 5475 N. U.S. Hwy. 1, Cocoa, Florida, 32927.
