Sammie Ann “Nanny” Burbank, of Lake Jackson, was born February 5, 1937 in Comanche, Texas to Jack and Mattie Lou Myers Lane and died April 16, 2011 at her home at the age of 74 years. Nanny was very active in athletics while in high school. She was a tremendous cook, enjoyed sewing quilts, pretty flowers, games, especially dominoes. She was an avid outdoorswoman loving the country, fishing, hunting and shooting. She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a restaurant owner. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, Paula Ann Gonzalez, Peggy Darlene Backman and her husband, Raymond, Phillip David Elders and his wife Maryanne, Perry Lawerance Elders and his wife Alane; grandchildren, Dennis Hadley and his wife Amanda, Samuel Curry, Amy Rodgers and her husband Jerome, Brian Elders, Matthew Elders, Christian Elders, Laney Elders; great grandchildren, Brittany Hadley, Kylee Hadley, Mason Hadley and Tyler Hadley. Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Restwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Bill Turnage and Phil Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Park with Dennis Hadley, Samuel Curry, Matthew Elders and Brian Elders serving as pallbearers.
