Leopoldo Ramon Garza

Leopoldo was born on October 2nd 1932 in San Ygnacio, Texas to the late Leobardo & Alicia Garza. He was the oldest of 8 children, to which four preceded him in death.

Leopoldo had a love for music and dancing, in the 1950’s he was introduced to the late Odilia Morales at a dance in Brown Field New Mexico. The two later married in 1957, moved to El Campo Texas, and had 4 children: Amelia Salazar, Irma (Ron) Atkins, Leopold (Tracy) Garza, and Leandro Garza to whom he is survived by.

In the 1970s Leopoldo moved his family to Freeport Texas to pursue employment at Dow Chemical. He served as a Chemical Operator at Dow for 25 years.

Leopoldo had an unconditional love for all of this grandchildren and great grandchildren. On his best days you could always catch him attending the athletic games, band concerts, and dance recitals of his beloved grandchildren: Alice and Daniel J. Valdez; Johnathan, Leandro, Mathew, and Chris Garza; and Andrea Saldana.

In his younger years Leopoldo loved to travel, take his grandchildren camping, and going out dancing with his beloved bride. The love Leopoldo had for Odilia was strong and unconditional. He has longed for her for 13 years. There is no doubt the joy we know he is now feeling being united with her again.

Leopoldo loved his family, and never wanted to be away from them. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to his in home caregivers, because of these ladies Polo was able to spend his last years and take his last breath in the comfort of his own home: Candy Bernal, Rosey Gonzalez, Vivian Garza, Georgia Inoisse, and Norma Flores.

Polo told the greatest stories, and the smile on his face while telling them always made listening the most rewarding even if you were hearing the story for the 20th time. Polo knew how to make anyone feel loved and accepted. The advice he would give to others was always short a sweet, but unforgettable. He is deeply missed by not only his family, but all those to whom hearts he touched.

A Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Tuesday October 27, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm

The Funeral Service will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Wednesday October 28, 2020 at 11:00am followed by the graveside.
