Glenda Parkes Borg, 70, of Lake Jackson, was united with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 18. Glenda was born on March 20, 1940 in San Angelo, Texas to William Richard Parkes and Edna Pevoto Parkes. William, known to his friends and acquaintances as Bill, and Edna Parkes were one of the first residents of Lake Jackson. Glenda’s parents, her brother William Richard Jr., and grandson Michel Edward, Jr. preceded her in death. Glenda is survived by her husband, Brewster E. Borg, who she married on September 24, 1960, in Lake Jackson. There are four sons: Richard of Pearland, Texas; Michel of Orlando, Florida; Rodney of Houston, Texas; and Steven of Keller, Texas; and daughter-in-laws Geanine, Rosa, and Vera. Glenda lived with her parents in Houston, Texas for a brief time before moving to Lake Jackson in the late 1940s, graduated from Brazosport High School in 1957, and attended Baylor University. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved God, life, and her family. She adored her 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a stay-at-home Mom and member of the Gulf Coast Christian Center Church (GCCCC) in West Columbia since 1981, and Glenda served as the Director of its daycare facility for 10 years. She enjoyed researching family genealogy, making jewelry for family and friends, and designing family scrapbooks. Glenda’s grandfather, Dr. Dennis Rubert Pevoto, pastor and church organizer, founded the Star of Hope Mission and was co-founder and first superintendent of Memorial Hospital, Houston. Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Star of Hope Mission, 6897 Ardmore, Houston, Texas 77054-2307. A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held in the chapel at the Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 West Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson, on Monday, November 22 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Bob Hankins and Carl Waggoner from the GCCCC, followed by a private burial meeting at the Restwood Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Glenda’s four sons, grandsons Montgomery and Joshua, and family friend Paul Orchard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Restwood Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
