Ethel Arnold Tracy, 74, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at CHI St Luke’s Health- Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas. Ethel was born to Charles and Edith Arnold on March 7, 1946 in Angleton, Texas. Ethel married John Carroll Tracy in Lake Jackson, Texas on February 5, 1966.
Ethel worked at The Dow Chemical Company as a Personnel Services Assistant in the Global Resource Center where she retired after 26 years of service. Ethel has always loved watching and cherished the memories of her boys playing football, soccer, track and baseball along with the 9 years of ski trips made with dearest friends. She enjoyed being Team Mom and served on the Board of Babe Ruth baseball organization. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play their various sports and dance recitals and being known as “Goms” to all their friends. To the Tracy boys, she kept up with their activities and loved being known as “Pickle” to them. After John’s passing, her kids, grandchildren and family were what she lived for.
Ethel’s pride and joys were her family and their many traditions. She looked forward each year to the large family gatherings of Thanksgiving dinners, Tracy Christmas-Eves, Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween Party, and post church Christmas Eve gatherings.
After retiring, Ethel found joy and spent countless hours volunteering throughout the community. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary since 1998 where she was recording secretary, involved with the Women’s Center, Co-Chair of the Main Information Department, editor of the “Pink Link” newsletter, and numerous other activities for the hospital. She also gave her time to her church, First United Methodist Church, with working the front office, flower ministry, and participated with the following groups: GMO (Gracefully Moving On), Women’s Ministry, and Ladies Night Out. But her greatest love was the John Tracy Memorial Fishing Tournament which funded local high school scholarships in honor of her late husband.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Arnold; her loving husband of 40 years, John Carroll Tracy; her sister, Betty Peyton; sister-in-law, Marilyn Tracy; and brother-in-law, Melvin Joice.
She is survived by her two sons, John “Jay” (Kary) Carroll Tracy, Jr; Jason (Jann) Arnold Tracy; 5 grandchildren, Janson (Cherith) Jones; Jaslyn Tracy; Taylor Tracy; Kenley Tracy; Jaryn Tracy; 1 great-grandchild, Eli Jones; her sisters, Nancy Williamson and Pat Joice; her in-laws, Michael (Darlene) Browne Tracy, Carroll (Marsha) Adrian Tracy, Jr., Maurice Arthur Tracy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Browne Tracy, Jr, Richard Carroll Tracy, Mark Ruben Tracy, Troy Scott Tracy, Michael Tod Tracy, Stephen Earl Tracy, Carroll Adrian Tracy III and Nicholas Carroll Tracy.
Honorary pallbearers are CHI St Luke’s Health- Brazosport Auxiliary
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, Texas from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
A private family service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson, Texas. Due to Covid-19, please join our online service on FaceBook at First United Methodist Church - Lake Jackson.
Burial will be following the service at Restwood Funeral Home.
