Donald Ray Penney Jr.

Donald Ray Penney, Jr, known to his friends as Donnie or Don was born in Freeport, Texas. Donald passed away on October 27, 2012 to be with his Lord, “Jesus Christ” at the age of 55. Don was born on March 18, 1957 to Wanda and Donald Ray Penney, Sr. of Freeport, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father Donald Ray Penney, Sr, survived by his mother, Wanda Jean Penney, son Jared Michael Penney and his wife Alyssa of Angleton, Texas, Sister, Jean Anne Kersten and her husband Edward W. Kersten, III, and niece Katherine R. Kersten of Lake Jackson, Texas. Don started at a young age working with his Dad in the Construction Business, hanging iron. His current occupation, was still in construction employed by, Bay LTD in Houston, Texas. For a person who lived life to the fullest Don enjoyed a number of activities. His passion for cooking led to many a day barbequing with family and friends. In Don’s earlier day he was a regionally recognized singer and at one point sang with Pavarotti in the Houston Grand Opera. Swimming was also a great passion for Don as he won many a competition in the Brazosport area. We’ll miss Don as he was full of life and he never met a stranger. Memories with Don leave friends and family with a smile remembering his great humor and his big heart.Family will have a viewing from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon on Friday. Friends will be welcome from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Friday at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor, H. O. Bilderback officiating with burial to follow in the Restwood Memorial Park, Clute, Texas.
