David Rudolph Rogers, Sr. “Big Dave”, 77 of Freeport, Texas passed away at his home on Saturday, December 15, 2012. After a long, bravely fought battle with lung and heart disease, he slipped from this earthly world to be with his Heavenly Father while surrounded by his loving family. David was born on April 22, 1935 in Laneville, Texas to Rayford and Ruth Rogers. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1953 and spent three years serving the country he loved in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Dow Chemical Company in Freeport after 30 years. After he retired he spent 17 years in Laneville, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, music and sports. He was one of a kind and a family man who touched the lives of all who knew him. David is preceded in death by his parents, Rayford and Ruth Easley Rogers; his sister, Shirley Savoy and a brother Michael Rogers. Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Charlotte Ann Williamson Rogers; four sons, David Rogers, Jr. and wife Kim of Friendswood, Texas, Alan “Bub” Rogers of Huntsville, Texas, Theron Rogers and wife Melissa of Cedar Park, Texas, Paul Rogers and his wife Denise of Lake Jackson, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Sarah Rogers Dougherty and husband Mickey, Micah Rogers, Devin Rogers, Sydney Rogers, Russell Rogers and wife Christy, Briana Rogers, Mitchell Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Carly Rogers, Meredith Rogers, Bailey Rogers, McKinley Rogers; two great grandchildren, Cameron Dougherty, Charlotte Rogers; two brothers, Travis Rogers and wife Jerry Lynn, Charles “Butch” Rogers and wife Anita; one sister, Frances Emmons as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
