Christine Roerden Martinez, of Lake Jackson, Texas was born, Tuesday, October 11, 1966 in New York, New York to Dorothy Lorraine (Von Ende) & Kenneth Emil Roerden and died Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Houston, Texas at the age of 46 years. Christine was a 1984 graduate of Brazoswood High School and then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas in 1988. She was a Sales and Marketing Executive from 1988 through 2009. Many of her professional achievements included being named one of the 2007/2008 Women of the Year by “Video Business” magazine, Vice President of Marketing at Warner Home Video, and Executive Vice President at Genius Products. After a long, successful career in the home entertainment industry she and her husband, Martin, left California to pursue their passion in education and continue her community involvement. After obtaining her teaching certificate in 2010, she worked as a substitute teacher in Brazosport Independent School District. Christine was always involved in community activities. These included being a Girl Scout troop leader with the San Jacinto Council in Freeport, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, March of Dimes walk, “March for Babies”, Run for Her (ovarian cancer awareness), and “A TIME to Read” (a reading program in Los Angles). She also enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, antiquing, family history (genealogy), her beagles, Longhorn football, and her niece and nephews. Christine is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Roerden; grandparents, Emil and Clara Roerden and Charles and Viola Von Ende. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Martin Martinez of Lake Jackson; father, Kenneth Roerden of Charlotte, North Carolina; father and mother-in-law, Rocky and Ophilia Martinez of Richwood, Texas; sister, Alysha Yelverton and her husband Guy and their children, Jacob, Henry and Emilia of White Plains, Maryland; brother-in-law, Matthew Martinez of Lakenheath, England and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
