It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vickie Darlene Grnya, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at the age of 76.
Vickie was born on January 2, 1948, in Ohio to Ralph and Marie Shoemake. She was one of eleven siblings and is survived by her brother, Dale Shoemake, and her sister, Audrey Fronzo. Vickie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Richard, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised three daughters - Regina (Paul) Zabik, Rena (Steve) Leone, and Yvonne Vance.
A cherished mother and grandmother, Vickie’s legacy lives on in her four grandchildren: Casey (Michael) Valmassoi, Aaron (Bob) Zabik, Daniel Vance, and Grace Vance, and her two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Hudson, who brought her immeasurable joy. Vickie was a constant presence in their lives, offering love, wisdom, and support. Her deep devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Vickie was a woman who lived a faithful Catholic life and found comfort in her belief in God. She was a pillar of strength and love for her family, always putting others before herself. As a homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home, where laughter and kindness abounded. Her spirit and love were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private family visitation will be held at Resurrection Funeral Home in Clinton Township, Michigan. Vickie will be remembered in a ceremony of love and thanksgiving for her life in a private mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with an internment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Though Vickie is no longer with us, her memory will continue to inspire and guide her family. She will be remembered for her kindness, faith, and the love she so freely gave to all. May she rest in peace, surrounded by eternal love.
