Mitsuko Auito was born on December 25, 1931. She was born to Yuichi and Yoshino Okuyama. She was the 4th out of 5 children, she still has one younger sister Masako (George) Yoshida living in Kitakyushu City, Japan. The young family lived in a large mansion in Yokohama, Japan. Mitsuko lost her father when she was 4 years old during a tumor surgery. He was the executive Vice-President of Aji-No-Moto. On April 18, 1942 their house was bombed by ‘Jimmy Doolittle’s Raiders’. The family spent the war as homeless refuges. They slept in fields and train stations, traveling from one family member to another. 
In 1954 Mitsuko was working at the Tokyo U.S. Military Post office. After being wounded in the Korean War Joseph Auito Jr was serving his remaining enlistment as a guard at this Post Office. He fell immediately in love with her. They were married in the U.S. Embassy and it lasted for 62 years until his passing in May 2016. They had one son Joseph Yuichi Auito named after both his grandfathers. 
Mitch as she was known was a housewife and mother. She had numerous hobbies including cooking, sewing, making Japanese dolls, and bunka embroidery. Whenever someone showed up to their house, she would immediately start cooking.  
When her son Joey (Joseph) married Barbara, they had 2 children Ryan and Christopher, she loved doting over them. It wasn’t unusual for them to be spending the night with her and their grandfather ‘Pa’.  After the boys grew up and were married. Ryan to Melissa, they had 2 children Savannah and Keira. Chris was married to Sunny, and they also had 2 children Joey (Joseph) and Shelby. The grandchildren now called her Mema and Pa
After Pa’s passing, she spent her last days at the Regency of Shelby. She suffered from Parkinson’s disease for almost 15 years. The periods where her body was frozen was the most difficult times for her. Now her suffering and pain are over. God bless you Mitsuko and the world is a smaller place without your loving presence.
