Our DeBerardino family, David, Christina, Joseph, Nicholas, Anthony and Alaina, are saddened by the loss of Kathy Wagner.  We always enjoyed the time we spent at family gatherings with her and Karl.  Many memories were made at their home in Clinton Township when we would celebrate the birthdays of Maryrose, Jonathan, Grace and Claire.  The kids loved to play together in the basement with the trains and the cool toys.  Kathy and Karl were very warm and kind people who always made us feel welcome and special and they were extremely gracious hosts to us.  Kathy was a beautiful lady and she will be dearly missed.  May she rest in peace, may she know all the glory of God and heaven but remain in spirit with her loved ones on Earth.

Although she was both of those things, there is only one word that I think describes her best. STRENGTH! If you look that up in the dictionary, I believe you would see an 8 by 10 glossy of Kathy Wagner!A pillar for everyone she met. Especially her family. And what a family! Lol! She handled  everything with grace and love. But now she is in the Lord and Karl’s hands. I know Karl will fight to hold her in his arms first!

     Kathy was not the typical Mother-in-Law, you know,  the one that has “that reputation”. Instead, Kathy was a very supportive, kind and loving Mother-in-Law, she was genuinely excited to see you and was interested in what you were doing.  She always made time for you even when you “popped” in unexpectedly. 
     As a grandmother, Kathy knew how important making memories were, whether is was a day trip to the zoo, making dirt cup desserts, or even hosting a tea party. She had sleep overs for the grandchildren and had ice cream socials, complete with ice cream looking bowls and spoons.  Christmas was magical for the grandchildren, and Kathy always made sure they got something they wanted. 
     After my divorce, Kathy would still be excited to see me and give the most genuine hug. She still wanted to know what was going on in my life. 
     Kathy will be truly missed by many, but her legacy will live on.  Kathy was the greatest Mother-in-Law a girl could ask for- I love you Kathy! Rest In Peace! 

To all who grieve Kathy Wagner's passing:   There are very few  who can stack up to Kathy Wagner in all respects in a lifetime of family and friends we have known.  It is an understatement to say Kathy is truly one in a million, whose friendship we have cherished for many years.  Kathy truly is worthy of the promises of Christ, and we are certain God will take perfect care of her.

When we first heard of Kathy's dire situation and her short stay in hospice, Donna said: "How can this be?  That should be me!"  And today (10/19/2018) while on the raised mat undergoing outpatient physical therapy following a recent long stretch in hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities, Donna burst out:  "I still can't believe Kathy is gone!"   She and Karl will always remain in our nightly prayers.  May they and all the faithful departed rest in peace.

I loved Kathy very much! She was a wonderful mother-in-law. She was so easy to love.  A  perfect grandma always ready to be there with  a delicious home-cooked meal or a shoulder  to lean on for support. May her gentle spirit live on in all of us.
