Karin Ann Ball, aged 75, passed away peacefully with her family close by her side on November 11, 2024, in Detroit, MI. Born on January 16, 1949, Karin dedicated her life to serving and caring for others, leaving a lasting impact through her compassion and generosity.
Karin completed her education at St. David's Catholic School and soon embarked on a diverse career path. She began her employment journey at Michigan Bell from 1967 to 1971, becoming a stay-at-home mother, later transitioning to work at various restaurants between 1989 and 1993. Her most cherished role was as the Manager and Cook at Dawn's Center for Seniors, where she worked from 1993 until her retirement in 2014. Karin's unwavering dedication to the senior community was evident through her commitment and the joy she brought to those around her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Karin was a vibrant part of her community and enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She cherished time spent with family and friends playing cards, and board games, and especially loved her times at casinos. Her passion for travel took her on many adventures, including memorable trips to Las Vegas and cruising the Caribbean with her best friends Ginger Lyvinsov and Patti Szczesniak. Karin was also an avid fan of hospital and police dramas, Hallmark Channel movies, and enjoyed playing games on her cell phone. Her life was full of laughter and joy, often highlighted during Girls' Weekends and playing bunco with friends. Above all, her greatest joy was the time spent with her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey and his wife Laura, Brian and his wife Lillie, daughters Jennifer, her husband James, Sherry, and her cherished grandchildren Danielle, Andrew, Georgina, Adeline, and Evangeline. Karin was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Ball who would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this November; her parents, Marvin and Grace Courter; and her sisters, Lois Blackwell and Donna Battaglia.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life, honoring Karin's wishes for an intimate gathering of close friends and family to celebrate her remarkable life.
