Karen Loewengruber Kontry passed away on August 24, 2018 at the age of 67. She was the loving wife of Greg Kontry for 35 years. The beloved mother of Carolyn (Brian) Torri and Dawn (Kyle) Harrington. The cherished Gramma of Ava Torri. The daughter of Joseph & the late Yolan Loewengruber and daughter in law of late Chester & Kathryn Kontry. The dear sister of Gayle (Tim) Dee and Joe (Beverly) Loewengruber, and sister in law of Mike (Jill) Kontry and Larry Kontry (& friend Anne Steffen) and the late Diane Kontry. The caring aunt of Adam (Jenni) Dee, Sarah (Ryan) Buttson, Rachel Dee, Matthew Dee, Blake Loewengruber, Brooke Loewengruber, Julie (Mike) Martin, Beth Kontry, Alicia (Shawn) Heading and Jessica (Matt) Cross. The great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Karen was involved with St. Paul of Tarsus Parish over the years. She enjoyed cooking classes, crafting at home, traveling, playing wallyball and doing genealogical research on her family. She was a member of the MSU Alumni Association and a four time finisher of the Tour de Troit bike race in Detroit. Karen was also one of the first women in the General Motors Engineering Computer Graphics department and dedicated 34 years of her career to many additional roles in the engineering department at GM/EDS.
Visitation for Karen will take place on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 2pm until 9pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Road in Clinton Township. Friends may visit the church on Tuesday beginning at 9:30am.
